My understanding is that micro evolution within a species is observed, but not macro evolution.

I think it is only macro evolutionist who are against Biblical creationist !

I don't see why some Christians think evolution and Christianity are at odds with each other. Unless you interpret the bible literally then most of the world is at odds with Christianity. But evolution proves the concept of original sin scientifically. Most of evolutionary psychology supports religion. Religion is evolutionarily adaptive.

Thanks for your feedback! When scientists advance a new theory it needs to fit two criteria in order for Christians to accept it. The theory needs to be drawn from first making observations about how the world works and then, from this, arriving at a theory based on these observations. Then tested. The evidence must support the theory. But evolutionary theory is a philosophical - not a scientific theory - that is as, as yet, untested and unproven. Therefore, Christians are not intellectually obligated to accept it.

Second, when a new theory is advanced it must not contradict the clear teaching of scripture. I believe that all scripture is inspired by God and authoritative, and that evolutionary theory contradicts biblical teaching.

Evolution has been observed in real time in fruit flies. It is not a philosophical theory but one of the most backed up sciences there is. Many Christians accept this. I think it is only fundamentalists who are against Evolution.

Charles Darwin was once ridiculed for postulating an insect with an extremely long tongue for there was no other way this flower could exist. Because no one could imagine such an insect they laughed at him. Years later this insect was discovered and Darwin proved correct.

DNA testing has added so much more to our understanding of history and evolution too. We can now pinpoint when things like blue eyes came into existence. But, if you are a fundamentalist then there is no point in my showing you the evidence for evolution.

Good luck.

Thoughtful arguments!

I'd only add that even if we run with enlightenment reduction of everything to material facts, the enlightenment still loses.

It loses because Christ rising from the dead and appearing to people is a concrete, material fact. It's the central claim of Christianity and it changes everything.

Agreed! This is not meant as a denial of concrete material facts but how we handle them.
